Why factory locks are not enough

Modern vans often have better standard security than older models, but factory locks are designed for everyday convenience as much as security. They are typically tied into central locking, which means one button controls every door. Useful when loading up, but it creates a single system that can be targeted.

Physical attacks on vans commonly involve peeling a door edge, drilling around a lock, attacking a handle or forcing the gap between door and body. A correctly installed deadlock introduces another fixed point that resists movement of the door. It will not make a vehicle impossible to attack, but it changes the amount of effort required.

Deadlocks protect the doors, but theft prevention works best when several systems cover different risks. An alarm can draw attention to an attack.
